Tenenbaum was fined today and ordered to pay $675,000 for illegally downloaded music. I checked out his blog and he provides a complete timeline of the case. It is really interesting since the 25-year-old's drama began at the age of 16 (in 2003).
"2003 : Letter is sent to Joel’s parents’ house, requesting $5250 for 7 songs that Joel (age 16) allegedly downloaded. Joel sends check of $500, explaining his financial situation as a student. The check is returned."
Felix Brinkmann was a 90-year-old survivor of the Holocaust. He and his wife were separated during their times in concentration camps. They were later reunited, Mrs. Brinkmann died last year.
Brinkmann was the co-founder of a popular nightclub in Manhattan, the "Adam's Apple." Later, he owned a real estate company in the Bronx.
On Thursday, July 30, 2009, Brinkmann was found dead in his Upper East Side apartment. He had been strangled and had a head injury. Police were looking for a young woman and a man in connection with his death.
Here's where it get strange, in April 2009, Brinkmann was arrested for "menacing" someone with a gun. The charges were dropped when the accuser wouldn't cooperate. It turns out one of his longtime friends is celebrity investigator Bo Deitl...? Stay tuned, I'm sure there is more to this story coming.
MC Hammer's cousing "Big Marv," sometimes affectionatly called "Lyin Marv" was arrested after allegedy raping a woman he met on Twitter. Police said Marv was about to flee the country before he was arrested.

He was last seen on July 14, 2009, in Bangkok.Harrie was taking a summer course in pathobiology in Japan. He left Japan for Thailand alone on July 7, 2009.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. military wants to establish regional teams of military personnel to assist civilian authorities in the event of a significant outbreak of the H1N1 virus this fall, according to Defense Department officials.
The proposal is awaiting final approval from Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
The officials would not be identified because the proposal from U.S. Northern Command's Gen. Victor Renuart has not been approved by the secretary.
The plan calls for military task forces to work in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. There is no final decision on how the military effort would be manned, but one source said it would likely include personnel from all branches of the military.

23-year-old Darlene Haynes of Worcester, Mass, was found brutally slain in the closet of her apartment. Her body was found by her landlord, who was investigating a foul smell coming from her apartment. Haynes had apparently been dead for days. Haynes had three children, Jasmine (4) and Lilliana (3) lived with their grandmother, the third little girl, Christina, lived with Darlene.
In June of 2009, Haynes took out a restraining order against her boyfriend, Roberto Rodriguez. Police questioned the 24-year-old man, who was reportedly the last person to see her alive on July 23rd. (Despite the restraining order!) Police have not named his as a suspect.
Yesterday on "Fox and Friends," Glenn Beck was discussing the Professor Gates controversy with the hosts of the show. Beck said, "a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture. ... this guy is, I believe, a racist."

I have not taken sides in this story because I think the both of them are were wrong. Diane Schuler of West Babylon was returning from a camping trip with her two children and three nieces. Diane had called her brother about two hours before the accident and said she was not feeling well. Diane drove for almost two miles, in the wrong lane before crashing into an SUV. The three passengers in the SUV were killed, along with Diane, her little girl and her three nieces. Her five-year-old son Brian was the only survivor. My heart goes out to her family, her husband Daniel, who reportedly works with the Nassau County PD and her brother Warren Hance who lost his three little girls.
Connecticut police raided a Shelton home and broke up a canary fighting ring. Nineteen people were arrested; many of the suspects spoke Portuguese. Over 100 birds were seized and the suspects were charged with gambling and animal cruelty.
I didn't even know you could 'fight canaries.' I never gave it much thought, but canaries prefer to be alone and if you put two in a cage they fight, at least that's what I've always heard.

I actually saw this when it happened. For a brief moment, Tony was trapped in cockpit of his burning car (felt like longer when I saw it yesterday). He's very lucky that he only suffered minor burns to his hands and face.
After reading about the Vibes concert death, something struck me as 'odd.' Witnesses said when they woke up at sunrise, the body was there and everyone was talking about it. The police confirmed the death around 7:00 a.m. That's a good two hour lapse of time. I then read some of the comments made by people who were at the festival in our local newspapers following the AP's story. The rumor (found on the Norwalk News Online website) is that the 29-year-old man was "bloody," possibly beaten or murdered.

Alexis Cohen, who was the mouthy American Idol contestant who Simon Cowell compared to "Green Goblin," was killed in a hit and run in New Jersey. A man was arrested the following evening and charged with reckless driving and leaving the scene of a crash.

A Robinson R-44 commercial helicopter crashed onto a Maryland highway on the evening of July 23, 2009; killing four people. The helicopter crashed near Smithsburg, MD, on Interstate 70, on the eastbound lanes. As of the morning of July 24, 2009, the victims names had not yet been released.
"Real Estate developer Solomon Dwek may be the man who help the FBI's investigation into a massive corruption probe in New Jersey.Dwek, the son of a rabbi, was charged with trying to defraud a bank for over $50 million, in 2007. His case was still pending in 2009. According to sources, Dwek may be the witness who helped identify those arrested in the July 2009 probe which led to the arrests of 44 people including New Jersey mayors and rabbis. "
