Facebook Lite is a service of Facebook that has minimal functions in comparison to the normal Facebook interface. The service was reportedly being tested in August 2009. Facebook Like features basic functions like adding friends, commenting, viewing photos and writing wall posts. The purpose of Facebook Lite is to provide an option to users with lower bandwidth speeds or slower internet service. The simplified version of Facebook would have faster loading time.

I can see how this can be helpful for people with 'slow broadband' connections. But what good is Facebook without all the bells and whistles? For that, we have, um Twitter.
