Priscilla Renea: How record execs take a talented girl and make her into cookie cuter pop princess

Singer and songwriter Priscilla Renea's began posting YouTube videos of herself singing and playing guitar in 2007. Her performances led to her singing on the MTV show "Say What? Karaoke." Renea's first album Jukebox will be released on October 20, 2009. The first single off the album is "Dollhouse". The video for "Dollhouse" was released in August 2009.

I honestly had never heard of Priscilla Renea before this morning. Her colorful Hannah Montana-ish video "Dollhouse" gave me an immediate headache. While researching the story-I came across Priscilla Renea's "original" YouTube videos. She's gifted with a beautiful voice, plays guitar (barely but her voice makes up for it) and had a folksy/hip-hop kind of style. After Capitol records got their hands on her, they turned her into...I'm not sure. In the video for Dollhouse, she reminds me of Kelly Clarkson/Rihanna. What a shame.
